What the app accesses
Microphone and connected audio devices
HydroScope accesses the Android audio input, including a selected USB audio interface, to display acoustic information and create WAV recordings when you start monitoring or recording.
Location
If you enable “Record GPS track” and grant permission, HydroScope uses foreground device location to attach positions to an active field recording. Location tracking is optional and can be disabled in the app. HydroScope does not request Android background-location permission.
Files and project information
The app creates WAV recordings, session metadata, calibration records, images, CSV exports and portable project packages in device storage. Project names, operator names, site names and notes are entered by the user.
How data is handled
No account or advertising profile
HydroScope does not require a Blackfish account and does not contain advertising or advertising SDKs.
No automatic upload
Audio, location, calibration and project data remain on the device unless you deliberately share, copy or export them. Portable project packages are created locally for transfer into Analyze.
No sale of personal data
Blackfish Acoustics does not sell data created in HydroScope. The current app does not transmit analytics or field recordings to Blackfish Acoustics.
Retention and deletion
Files remain on the device until the user deletes them through HydroScope, Android file management or another connected system. Uninstalling the app may not remove files saved in public Music or Download folders.
Your choices
You can deny microphone permission, although monitoring and recording will then be unavailable. You can deny or disable location permission and continue using the acoustic features without a GPS track. Android permission settings can be changed at any time.
Security and transfers
You are responsible for protecting exported WAV files and project packages after sharing or transferring them. A receiving application or storage provider may apply its own privacy practices.
